Washington Wizards 2023-24 Brand Tagline/Hashtag: #ForTheDistrict

In the summer of 2023, the Washington Wizards basketball operations changed directions. With a new front office in place and a turnover of the roster, many of the mainstays from year’s past were no longer part of the organization. With that, our old tagline of #DCAboveAll needed to be replaced as it was closely associated with past teams and we needed something new and refreshing for a new era of Wizards’ basketball.

With that, we did a brainstorm as a marketing team and my suggestion of #ForTheDistrict prevailed as our slogan of choice. And while it was new to the Wizards, it did take it’s cues from many other rallying cries for teams around the sports world.

With a new hashtag/tagline, it meant introducing it to our fans and educating them on what it means and when to use it. Below is our social rollout, and then some other ways we’ve used it as a brand.
